Follow-up knee review
For patients Mr Chandratreya has already seen. Comes in useful when a plan needs revisiting - your knee has changed, a treatment tried elsewhere has not worked, or you want the consultant's view on a new scan or MRI report. Same unhurried appointment, at the lower follow-up rate.

Why a consultant consultation is worth it
Knee pain is rarely one thing. What feels like arthritis can be a meniscal tear, front-of-knee pain can come from the hip, and a lump behind the knee can be a Baker's cyst - or something else entirely. The £220 consultation settles what is actually going on, so any physio, injection or surgery you go on to have is aimed at the right target, not a guess.

Before your appointment
Very little to do. If you have had an MRI, an x-ray or nerve studies elsewhere, bring the images or the report - it saves repeating a scan you have already had. Wear something loose above the knee so it can actually be examined. Jot down any questions you want answered while you have a consultant in front of you.
Afterwards
You leave with a clear diagnosis and a written plan. What happens from there is up to you - some patients act on the plan straight away, others sit with it for a while, some come back for a follow-up review if the picture changes. Your notes and plan stay yours regardless.

How much does the knee clinic cost?
A new consultation is £220 and a follow-up review is £150. Both fees are all-inclusive of the consultant's time, examination and written plan. You are only charged for the appointment - there are no add-ons on the day.
What is the difference between a new consultation and a follow-up?
The new consultation (£220) is your first appointment with Mr Chandratreya - a full, unhurried assessment, diagnosis and written plan. A follow-up review (£150) is for patients he has already seen who want a check-in - because their knee has changed, a plan needs revisiting, or a new scan needs a consultant view. If it has been more than a year, book a new consultation.
What happens at a knee consultation?
You get around thirty minutes with a Consultant Knee Surgeon. He takes a proper history, examines the knee hands-on, reviews any imaging you bring, and explains what is going on in plain English. You leave with a written plan of what to do next - whether that is exercises, physio, an injection, imaging or surgery - which is yours to keep and act on however suits you.
What knee conditions do you see?
Knee osteoarthritis, meniscal and cartilage tears, ligament sprains including ACL and MCL problems, patellofemoral (front-of-knee) pain, Baker's cysts and bursitis, tendon problems, and ongoing pain after injury or previous surgery. Who is Mr Chandratreya?

What if I need an injection or surgery?
Mr Chandratreya will explain the options at the consultation and set out what he would recommend, in writing. You take that plan away and act on it in the way that suits you best. The consultation itself is diagnostic and advisory - no injections or operations are performed at the clinic.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book the consultation yourself, online or by calling 029 2199 9300. If you have had an MRI, x-ray or scan done elsewhere, bring the images or the report with you.
How quickly can I be seen?
Most patients are seen for consultation within a week, often sooner. If you call reception on 029 2199 9300 they can usually offer something within a few days.
