Common questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No — all our blood tests are self-refer. Book directly online or call 029 2199 9300. You can fast or not fast based on your chosen test (we'll let you know when you book).

How quickly will I get my results?

Most blood test results come back quickly. Some specialist genetic tests take 5-10 working days. Your results include a doctor's interpretation — not just numbers.

Where will my blood be taken?

At our Penarth clinic (13 Washington Buildings, CF64 2AD) or our Cowbridge clinic (10 High St, CF71 7AG). Both are just outside Cardiff with easy parking. Allow approximately 15-30 minutes for your appointment.

How does the results conversation work?

You'll get a detailed written lab report with reference ranges and any out-of-range values clearly flagged. If you'd like a doctor to talk through your results, you can book a private GP consultation afterwards — this is a separate paid service.

What payment options are available?

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay. We're also recognised by major UK insurers including Bupa, AXA, Vitality, WPA and Benenden — check with your insurer for pre-authorisation rules.

Can I combine multiple tests in one appointment?

Yes. We can usually take blood for several panels in one visit. Call us on 029 2199 9300 if you're unsure which tests to combine — our team can advise.

I'm not sure which test I need — can you help?

Yes. If you're not sure which blood test fits your needs, book a private GP consultation first. Our GPs will recommend the appropriate test based on your symptoms and history.

Are blood tests safe in pregnancy?

Yes, blood tests are safe in pregnancy — though some tests may not be informative during pregnancy. Mention your pregnancy when you book and we'll advise on the best options.

Important: Blood test results are most valuable when reviewed by a doctor who knows your medical history. We strongly recommend discussing your results with your own GP, or booking a private GP consultation with us, before acting on any findings. Lab values alone do not constitute medical advice.
