Who can refer patients to Acorn Private Clinic?
Any registered UK healthcare professional can refer patients to Acorn Private Clinic. This includes GPs, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, podiatrists, and consultants. We accept referrals from both NHS and private practice.
Patients can also self-refer directly without a GP letter for most services.
How long does a referred patient wait for an appointment?
Most referred patients are seen within 48 hours of receiving the referral form. Urgent cases can often be accommodated the same or next day.
Diagnostic results (ultrasound, MRI, blood tests) are typically reported within 24-48 hours and sent directly to the referring clinician.

Is there a cost to refer a patient?
No cost to refer. Acorn Private Clinic charges the patient directly for their treatment based on our all-inclusive transparent pricing.
Patients can also use private health insurance — we accept Bupa, AXA, WPA, Vitality, Aviva, Cigna, Healix, Saga and Allianz.
What services can I refer for?
We accept referrals for: diagnostic ultrasound, private MRI, REMS bone density scans, over 100 blood tests, joint and soft tissue injections (steroid, hyaluronic acid, PRP, Arthrosamid®), minor surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, hand surgery, ECG, and private GP consultations.

How will I receive the report?
Reports for diagnostic services (ultrasound, MRI, blood tests, REMS) are sent by secure email to the referring clinician within 24-48 hours of the appointment.
Procedure summaries and surgical reports are sent within one week. We can also send reports by NHS.net email or post on request.
Can my patient be referred for insurance treatment?
Yes. Acorn Private Clinic is recognised by all major UK private health insurers including Bupa, AXA Health, WPA, Vitality, Aviva, Cigna, Healix, Saga and Allianz.
Your patient will need to contact their insurer for a pre-authorisation code, which we'll then process with their treatment. We help with the paperwork at no extra cost.
Do you accept fax referrals?
We don't routinely use fax, but we'd be happy to arrange this if you prefer. The fastest options are our online referral forms (instant) or email (same-day acknowledgement).
