No. This is an allergy test: it measures IgE antibodies, which show whether your immune system reacts to these moulds as allergens. It does not test for an active fungal infection (such as invasive aspergillosis or thrush), and it is not a mycotoxin or "mould illness" test. Those are different investigations. If you are worried about an infection or the effects of a water-damaged building, please see a doctor.

It can be. Sensitisation to Aspergillus fumigatus is relevant in some people with asthma and is one of the things a doctor considers when asthma is harder to control than expected, including a condition called allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). A positive result here does not diagnose ABPA on its own, but it is a useful flag worth discussing with your GP or a respiratory specialist.

No. The Candida albicans result measures IgE sensitisation to candida as an allergen. It is not a test for gut candida overgrowth and does not support or rule out claims made for anti-candida diets, which are a separate and much-debated area. Read the candida result as one allergen among the seven, and discuss anything unexpected with a doctor.

Mould is not covered by our First-Line or Enhanced panels, so this is the focused option if fungal allergy is your main concern. This is a blood test that measures specific IgE antibodies, so it can be done without stopping antihistamines and without exposing your skin to allergens. It is useful when skin testing is not suitable, when you are on treatment that would interfere with a skin test, or when you want a broad fungal picture in one appointment.

A negative mould result makes fungal allergy less likely and points to other triggers — dust mite, pets, pollens or foods. In that case, our Enhanced or Comprehensive panels, or a review with a doctor, would be the sensible next step.
