Women's blood test questions
I can't find "Female Hormones" or "Well Woman" on the booking form?
On the online booking system, Female Hormones is listed as "Hormonal Health" and Well Woman is listed as "Well Person". They're the same tests — just named differently in the booking form. If you're unsure, call us on 029 2199 9300 and we'll book it for you.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. All our blood tests are self-refer — book directly online or by phone. If you'd like help choosing the right test, our team is happy to advise.
Which should I choose — Female Hormones or Well Woman?
Female Hormones (£120) is a focused panel of reproductive hormones — ideal for perimenopause, cycle or fertility questions. Well Woman (£350) is a comprehensive screen that adds thyroid, vitamins, iron, kidney, liver and cholesterol for a full health picture. If you're not sure, call us and we'll point you the right way.
Do I need to fast, or time it to my cycle?
It depends on the test. Some markers (such as cholesterol or glucose) are best taken fasting, and certain hormones are most useful on specific days of your cycle. We'll let you know exactly what's needed when you book.
How quickly will I get my results?
Most results are back within 48 hours. A small number of specialist markers take a little longer — we'll flag this at the time of booking. Your report includes reference ranges with any out-of-range values clearly highlighted.
Will a doctor explain my results?
You'll receive a clear written report. If you'd like a doctor to talk through what your results mean and what to do next, you can book a GP consultation — a separate, optional service.
Can I combine more than one test?
